The Process
Building a custom home is, for many, making dreams come to fruition. It is where you get to design and have a say in nearly everything about your new home. There are many steps in the custom home-building process, that come sometimes make it a little bit longer process than just buying another cookie-cutter house, but with the right planning it can be a fun and entertaining journey along the way.
Getting started
First things first, we like to have all of our clients come into the office, so we can discuss exactly what they are looking for. From there we can better assess what the next step is.
Sometimes we have to start from scratch, helping them find the land and come up with the right house plan for them. Other times clients come to us with their property and house plans in hand and are just ready to get started on the construction process.
site visit
After out first office visit we like to go out to the site to assess if the house works for the given location and any and all challenges that may be forthcoming. While there, we like to go ahead and try to come up with a proposed site layout, so as to best utilize the views and landscaping around where the house will be.
Sometimes it’s not just one site visit but three or four. We want to make sure that our clients get exactly what they want and have all their goals and expectations not just met, but exceeded.
house plans
After we’ve had a chance to meet in the office, as well as the site, it is time to really get things started. Not every house fits on every lot the same. There are often little tweaks and changes that must be made or shifted to make the most out of your new home construction. Before we begin the actual construction of your home, we want to make sure every detail is planned out and prepared for. An ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure.
After the final house plans are approved, it’s time to begin construction.
